I just spent half a year in Lima, working there, love the place, the climate, the food…

Liisa — great to hear from a Fin who knows and loves Peru. It must be quite an adjustment to go from the Lima garua to the Arctic snows! Hopefully you can come back soon.
I’ve always wanted to visit Finland, an idea that took hold as a kid when I read the Moomintroll books. (I love snow.)

Now I am going to reveal how out of touch I am: I didn’t realize there was a Finnish embassy in Lima. (Shame on me.)
I will have to stop by one day to tell them that I am a fan of Tove Jansson and her books. (I have a letter from Tove that she wrote to me in the mid 1990s, which I treasure.) My son is reading them now for his book reports in 5th grade in Peru.
